Dear Sharks Families,
With the 2017 Summer swim season ending, we are looking forward to next season's planning. To put on our swim season we need certain positions filled so that we can properly conduct our swim meets and give our swimmers the best experience possible. This year we found ourselves light in the Official department, so we would like to send this note to ask that some of you consider becoming an on deck Official. Acting as an Official does count towards your volunteer requirements and also gives you a pool side view of all the action! First time Officials will be trained as "Stroke and Turn Officials", then can progress to other positions with additional training in subsequent seasons. Classes occur in April, are only available for a short time and can fill up fast. The "Stroke and Turn" training takes 2 sessions and are usually offered both, on the weekends, as well as during the week. The first session is approximately 90 minutes long and is a discussion / lecture in a classroom environment. The second session is 60 minutes and is a poolside "hands on" training.
If you have any questions regarding Officiating or training, please contact Tom Buffington (email@example.com), Olen Walton (firstname.lastname@example.org), or myself (email@example.com), in the off season, and we will do our best to get you any information that you need. Please also be on the lookout for additional information as we get closer to the 2018 season.
